New rules for the extension of residence permits for Executive directors

As of October 15st  2024, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) of Montenegro has introduced new rules for extending residence permits for executive directors of companies in which they are the sole owners or hold more than 51% of the capital.

According to the new regulations, in addition to the existing documentation, it is now mandatory to provide additional evidence confirming the executive director’s status and the company’s operating conditions.

Proper collection and submission of these documents are crucial to avoid complications and delays in the process.

NEW ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTATION

To extend a residence permit for an executive director, the following must be submitted:

• Written job offer from the employer – salary must not be lower than:
  
  
• • 600€ for basic or secondary education
  • 800€ for higher education

• Original lease agreement – rental amount must not be lower than €150
• Original property ownership certificate – not older than 30 days
• New Criminal Record Certificate – not older than 6 months, apostilled (for countries requiring it) and translated by a certified court interpreter
• Health insurance policy
