Work During the National Holiday: Njegoš Day (November 13 and 14)

Njegoš Day, a national holiday celebrated on November 13 and 14, is one of the most significant cultural and historical dates in Montenegro. According to the law, these days are non-working days for most businesses, including those engaged in wholesale and retail trade.

However, there are exceptions – certain activities may continue to operate during the holiday, but only with the mandatory submission of a notice to the Administration for Inspection Affairs.

 

WHO CAN WORK DURING THE HOLIDAY?

According to current regulations, the following are exempt from the work ban:

  1. Pharmacies
  2. Specialized shops or kiosks selling: bread, bakery products and cakes, flowers, souvenirs, newspapers, plant protection products, and funeral equipment
  3. Gas stations and retail outlets within them
  4. Marketplaces
  5. Stands, stalls, showcases, and vending machines outside marketplaces
  6. Shops, kiosks, and vending machines located within bus and railway stations, airports, and ports
  7. Stands and kiosks at events, festivals, fairs, and public screenings
  8. Wholesale warehouses

In addition, hospitality establishments have the right to organize work on national holidays.
