How to Enroll a Child in Kindergarten in Montenegro?

Choosing a kindergarten is one of the most important decisions for parents who are moving to or already living in Montenegro. Parents can choose between public and private preschool institutions, and the enrollment process depends on the type of institution.

PRIVATE OR PUBLIC KINDERGARTEN?

Private Kindergartens

• Smaller groups of children and a more individual approach
• Simple and fast enrollment process
• More attractive daily programs thanks to additional activities
• Price: 200€ – 400€ per month

Public Kindergartens

For enrollment in a public kindergarten, the following documents are required:

• Child’s residence permit
• Birth certificate (translated by a certified court interpreter)
• Parent’s passport
• Parent’s employment confirmation
• Medical certificate
• Vaccination record
• Statement on the (non)existence of allergies or chronic illnesses

Price: around €40 per month

WHAT DOES THE ENROLLMENT PROCESS LOOK LIKE?

Enrollment in kindergartens in Montenegro is carried out electronically via the portal: www.upisi.edu.me.

When applying, you will select:

• The municipality where the child will attend kindergarten
• The type of preschool institution (public or private)
• The specific kindergarten/educational unit

ENROLLMENT DEADLINES

• Enrollment usually starts in April or May for the following school year
• Documentation must be submitted no later than mid-June to ensure a place for the child
